ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Sara Najafi of the Mount Carmel
Cross Country team is this week's
Athlete of the Week.

Sara is a senior runner at MC,
having competed in both Cross
Country and Track for all four
years at Mount Carmel.  She has
stepped up to a new level this
year due to her off-season
training and hard work.

According to head coach Nathan
Boyer, "Sara is a pleasure to be
around. She is a thoughtful,
well-mannered and dedicated
young lady who I am proud to
have on my team.  This year, she
has moved into the Top 5 on
varsity and looks to have a big
impact on a great girls' team. "

Sara set a personal record by
almost 2 minutes on the Bronco
Invite course in Kit Carson Park
Saturday, September 9,  and on
this past Saturday September 16
set a personal record of 41
seconds over last year's best time
on the Mt. Carmel Invite course.

Sara is also a great teammate to
have around.  When asked about
her team, she responded that
"they are all working really hard,
and I am proud of everyone!"

The entire Mount Carmel Cross
Country team should be
commended on their
performances in the first two
meets of the season.  You can
check out the results of the very
successful Mount Carmel Invite
here.

Be sure to stop by our
message
boards and let Sara and the rest
of the runners know what a great
season they have going.

Great job Sundevils!
