ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

This week Mike Nelson of the
Freshman Westview Wolverines
is our Athlete of the Week.

Mike is a running back and
linebacker for the freshman
Wolverine team. He had 120
yards rushing and two
touchdowns on the offensive side,
and 8 tackles with several assists
on the defensive side.

The Wolverines used a great
defensive stop late in the game,
parlayed with a final offensive
drive to nip cross-town rival Mt.
Carmel 23-18 last Thursday at
Westview.  Tyler Barclay and Kyle
Wadstrom were also outstanding
in the game, with each of them
making several key receptions
throughout.  That makes two
straight wins for the team, and
their future looks bright.

Freshman Head Coach Kurt
Debniak says that "It was a great
team effort in the end.  Our
defense needed a stop or Mt.
Carmel could have ran out the
clock.  We got the ball back and
drove the length of the field for
the winning score."

Mike is a great teammate, and is
eager to give credit to others.
When asked about his stellar
play, he just "Wanted to thank the
offensive line for opening the
holes, and the defense for the big
stop at the end of the game
giving us a chance to win."

The Freshman Wolverines
continue their season this
Thursday at Valley Center.

Go get 'em Wolverines!

Mike receives a PQSports t-shirt
and a sandwich at the Deli-Stop
