ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

This week PQ Sports Athlete of
the Week is Brea Degasperis and
Mikayla Manos of the Socal Elite
Junior Teal.

Brea Degasperis, PQ resident and
Mikayla Manos, former PQ
resident, competed in the Cheer
Power West Coast National
Championship Cheerleading
Competition, held at the iPayone
Center on February 24th and
25th.  Their team, the SoCal Elite
Junior Teal, finished first in their
division and achieved the award of
National Champion.

This team of 20 athletes has
worked hard for the past year
perfecting a routine that features
dance, stunts and gymnastics.
Practices for this team are held a
minimum of twice a week for at
least two hours.  Usually team
members also participate in
private gymnastic or stunt lessons
to improve their craft.  Their hard
work this past weekend earned
the team members a medal,
jacket, team trophy and banner.

The SoCal Elite performed this
past weekend at the Kodak
Theatre in Hollywood (home of the
Oscars), and have three more
competitions in March in Anaheim,
Palm Springs and finally the COA
Ultimate National Championship in
Orlando, Florida in April.

The SoCal Elite gym is located in
Poway and currently features 6
teams of various levels from
beginners to advanced.  The gym
will be holding open tryouts in late
April for any interested ladies or
gentlemen.

PQ Sports is always looking for

to honor as athlete of the week.
If you know of someone worthy,
please email your nomination to

scored his/her first goal...we want
to hear about them all!
