ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Our Athlete of the Week is Westview Varsity
Water Polo player Luke Syka.

Luke is the leader of the Wolverines stellar
water polo squad, which is off to a great start
this year.  With their recent 12-7 win over
Torrey Pines, Luke and leading goal-scorer
Kyle Wertz have lead the Wolverines to a 10-3
start, 2-1 in the tough Palomar League play.

When asked how far the Wolverines can go this
year, Syka responded "I think we can get to
CIF's.  We will have to work really hard though."
As a team leader, he knows that you have to
put in the work to achieve the goals.

Head coach Ian McKercher also thinks that this
team can be special this year.  "They have lots
of potential and it's a young team.  This is the
best team that we have had so far at Westview."
Coach McKercher goes on to say "We have a
chance to win CIF's.  All the division 1 teams will
be close games, give or take 1 goal.  It will take
a lot of focus and playing well."

Keep up the good work and good luck the rest
of the season!
