ATHLETE OF THE
WEEK

This week PQSports is honoring
Haley Cruse of the 8 & Under
PQ Lightning All Star team.

Haley had a great 9th birthday
on May 26, when she pitched
not one, but 2 perfect games
that day!

In the first game she struck out
all 18 batters she faced in
leading the Lightning to a 3-0
victory.  In the second game she
struck out 12 while the Lightning
again won 3-0.  What a birthday!

Overall in the PQ Tournament
she pitched a total of 6 games,
only giving up 1 run total.  The
fewest strikeouts she had in any
game was 10, and that was in a
5 inning affair.

In addition to her outstanding
pitching, Haley hits leadoff for
the Lightning and finished the
tournament  a robust 8 for 13.

Unfortunately for the Lightning,
they had to settle for 2nd place
in the tournament with a tough
1-0 loss to Scripps Ranch in the
finals.

Kyle Cruse, Haley's father and
the team's coach, commends
the entire team for the efforts.
"The team supports Haley with
terrific defense.  I have been
coaching 8U allstars for past 5
years, and this is the best
defensive team I have seen."

The goal of this team is to finish
in the top 2 at the District
Championships at the end of
June, and to be the 1st PQ 8 &
Under allstar team to represent
PQ at the state championships
in Lancaster in July.

Word just in:  the team won their
tournament in Placentia/Yorba
Linda, going 5-0 over the
weekend of June 2-3!

Feel free to congratulate Haley
and the girls, or pass on any
other news in our PQ Sports
community in the
forums.
