ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

This week PQSports.com is honoring the PQ
Premier BU9 Red Soccer Team

This young team of 11 players is coming
together quite nicely.  The team has displayed
some well played soccer with awesome passing
sequences and a solid defensive line.
Throughout the summer they participated in
several tournaments and did quite well.  Now,
with Presidio League play underway, the PQ
Premier BU9 Red team is off to a great start
with three victories (Poway 3-1, FC San Diego
4-0 and Impact 7-0).  The team is Coached By
Steve Bass and Assistant Coach Eric Mitnick.

TOURNAMENTS

Charity Cup (June 2007) - Champions
In an exciting Finals against the Del Mar Sharks
Gold, the game came down to penalty kicks.
Down to the last kick for each team, PQ's goalie
makes a spectacular save and the final goal is
scored by PQ to win!

Carlsbad Cup (July 2007) - Bracket play
Team did not fair so well (1-2).  The competition
was tough and helped to prepare the boys for
stronger teams.

Hotspurs Labor Day Tournament
(September 2007) Finalists
As a last minute
entry and through extreme heat and humidity
over the Labor Day weekend, PQ Premier BU9
Red won all of their bracket games and their
Semi-final game.  Advancing into the
championship game against the Bonita Rebels,
an exciting game awaited the fans and players.
The Rebels managed to put a goal in late in
the first half  to take a 1-0 halftime lead.   PQ's
defensive line held strong in the second half,
not to giving up any more goals.  The PQ
Premier BU9 Red offense was unable to score
against the tough Rebel defense, and finished
2nd with a tough but game 1-0 loss.  The game
could have gone either way, with shots hitting
off the crossbar or missing just wide of the goal
by PQ. An exciting game all the way!

Team consists of the following players:  Tanner
B., Ryan C., Tyler D., Nolan D., Nathaniel H.,
Connor L., Eli M., Noah R., Sean R., Aaron W.,
Andrew W.
