Athlete of the Week:

Max Peterson

******UPDATE******

Max continued his outsanding play
today, Friday May 12, as he led
Westview to a 2-1 victory over visiting
Rancho Bernardo.  He allowed a
lead-off single followed by a double
for a run, then settled down and
allowed nothing else after that.  On
top of that, he hit a 2-run home run in
the bottom of the fourth for the
winning runs for the Wolverines.  His
curveball was keeping the Bronco
hitters off balance all afternoon as
Max set down one after the other.
Riley Danford had two hits for the
Wolverines, as hits were at a premium
for both teams in this well played
pitchers duel.

Congratulations should go out to all of
the Wolverines, as they are enjoying
a fantastic season.

Max Peterson (pictured at right) of the
Westview Wolverines varsity baseball team
pitched a perfect game Friday, May 5th
against the Mt. Carmel Sundevils. That's
right, 21 straight outs in a row without a
single man reaching base. If that isn't
impressive then I don't know what is!

This was coming after a fantastic weekend
against Rancho Bernardo, where Max
pitched the Wolverines to their first win ever
against the Broncos in the first game of the
Saturday, April 29 doubleheader.  He
followed that up with his first homerun of the
season in the second game of the twin
bill...quite a Saturday for Max!

Beau Champoux, the Wolverines Head
Coach, has plenty of good things to say
about Max.  "Max has been consistent all
year," says Champoux, "he is a two way
threat, on the mound and at the plate.  He
shows great senior leadership and hits
right in the middle of our lineup."

The Wolverines are off to their best season
in their history, and Max and the boys should
be congratulated!
